Your own templates work like ours: they appear on Website → Templates under My templates, can start a website page, landing page or blog post, and can be applied to a page you've already started. Use them for layouts you build again and again, such as a launch page, a webinar sign-up or a weekly post.
Who can do this
- Staff, admins and owners can save, create, edit and delete templates.
- Viewers can use the Templates page to look, but not save or change templates.
Save a page as your own template
- Open a page in the builder and click Save as template in the toolbar. Name it when asked. The toolbar says "Saved as template" with the name.
- It saves the layout as you see it on screen, saved or not. Website pages make website templates; landing pages make landing templates. Blog posts have Save as template in the post editor's toolbar too, and make blog-post templates.
- Your templates come first under My templates: on the Templates page (right after Blank page, on their kind's tab), including when you open the Templates page from a page's builder, where Replace this page, Add below and Add above work as they do for ours. Like ours, they can start any kind of page.
- Each name can be used once per page type, and you can keep up to 100 templates.
- A page made from your template is a copy: editing the page never changes the template.
Create a template from scratch
- Go to Website → Templates, open the tab for the kind you want (Website pages, Landing pages or Blog posts), and click Create a template.
- The builder opens for a new template. Type a Template name at the top, and a short description if you like.
- Build the layout as you would a page: add sections and blocks, or click Templates to start from one of ours or yours.
- Click Save template. Nothing is stored until you do, and a template needs at least one section. The toolbar says "Template saved".
A template has no address and is never published: it's only a starting point.
Edit or delete your templates
- Go to Website → Templates (
/website/templates) and open the tab for its kind. Your templates are the first cards after the blank one, under My templates. - Click Edit under a template to change its name, description or layout, then Save template. ← Templates brings you back to its tab.
- Click Delete, then Delete template to confirm. Pages you already made from it are copies and stay as they are.
Use your template
- On Website → Templates, your templates are the first cards after the blank one, on the tab for their kind, and on the My templates category tab. Use one like any other: see Templates: find, preview and use them.
- From a page's builder, Templates opens the Templates page for that page; your templates are on the My templates tab, with Replace this page, Add below and Add above.
What happens next
- A page made from your template is a copy: editing the page never changes the template, and editing the template never changes pages you already made.
- Save current as template in the Style Guide saves colours and fonts, not a page layout.
- To reuse one section rather than a whole page, select it and click Save as reusable section, then add it with Insert saved section….
